<Amman City - Mall Food Court>

The F/A-18F Super Hornet has a wide range of equipment on board, intended to ensure that the crew can engage targets in the air and on the ground with high accuracy and, under the right conditions, before the target sees the aircraft. But Jack and AJ were both trained that the first thing they should rely on is their own senses, to keep their eyes and ears open and heads on a swivel.

And that was exactly what both of them were doing in their respective situations, removing themselves from the ambient conversations and instead focusing on their surroundings. AJ donned her black aviators while Jack pulled on his brown tinted round sunglasses, which helped by disguising where their eyes were.

So while Beckett and Rob were trying to feign chatter, Jack slid out his phone, making like he was engrossed with it, but holding it just so that while his head was tilted down, his eyes, under his sunglasses, were able to look up.

AJ nodded silently to Cate, but was also watching. Already her eyes had settled on the one that Cate had seen, something that made AJ think "OPERATOR" in the back of her mind. For the moment, she kept her silence and focused on the surroundings instead.

The Land Rover sped through the neighborhood at higher rate of speed than most vehicles as Decker watched the streets with his eyes opened to any possible threats.  Seconds later, his sat phone began to ring.  The bumps in the road did little to disway him that it was in fact his command element calling him on the op.  This usually meet one of two things.  A caveat to the mission was added or the mission failed and they needed to go back. "Don't put your toys away just yet." Decker said extending the phones receiver and locking it into place.

"Go for DP-1."

"DP-1, intelligence is requesting you exfill a operative that has utilized their dirty mission code in their last communication.  Jordanian Intelligence confirmed that talk surrounding the HVT seems to coincided with a recent kill order.  You are to go to the coordinates given, pick up the asset and it's family and bring them back with you to the exfil site."

Decker looked over at his driver who began to shake his head with a smile while Decker responded.

"Sir, we have active ground intelligence assets in play at the Mall, intelligence knows a primary op is being ran and we are QRT should anything happen right?"

It was silent on the radio as the truck approached a slightly crowded intersection.  "You have your orders Senior Chief, pick up the family and get them to the primary exfil site."  Decker quickly responded cutting off the communication before looking at his teammate and driver.  "What's the bad news Chief?"  Decker motion for the driver to turn onto a side street, a narrow side street as they needed to prepare a little for what their tasking orders just included.

So far things appeared to be going to the rough plan they had worked out...so far. Cate didn't bother looking back, she was far too professional for that. Instead she used the available assets around her, reflections on the gleaming stainless steel escalator sides, shop window reflections and even the odd mirror she had spotted and sure enough their tails were following at a distance that was getting closer with each step towards the front door.

The large glass sliding doors moved aside for the women as they drew near, Cate using those gleaming panes to see their hounds once more, by this time they were withing just a few meters. Before stepping out onto the street, she doubled checked that the boys were out of sight, which they were for the purpose even though she could see their reflections on the sides of cars as they passed by. Without a word she stepped out into the street not even looking for what would be the 'pick up' vehicle she knew wouldn't be far away. Nodding her head slightly for the other girls to see, giving them that unspoken word to bunch up as women would typically do, she moved towards the right taking one last glance in the side window of a parked taxi to see if her own 'contact' was following behind the pursuers.

Kim stayed close to the others.  She hated the feeling of being followed and not being able to do anything about it.  She glanced at the reflections, wondering if Cate had an idea.   The woman didn't seem worried.  Kim then glanced at her friend, wondering what Bobbie thought.

Beckett clenched his fists at his sides.   He would give just about anything to have Kodiak with them right now.  The dog would be a big asset as he could warn them and be a protection for the girls.  He glanced at Rob, wondering how the man was holding it together.   Beckett was ready to go crazy himself.  He kept his pace normal though as he pretended to help Rob pick out a gift.

Decker watched from a closed window at the direction of the mall, the helo and plane traffic didn't seem to pick up and command didn't have anything new for them as the asset and his family moved quickly to secure what belongings they could. Every so often, Decker would glance back at the family as his counter part worked to ensure they where taking just what they needed, but with more of a sense of urgency.

Decker and his two-man team was obviously too far away to do anything of substance at the onslaught of trouble, but explosion and gunfire where the calling cards he was honestly looking for.  As the family began to rush down the stairs and towards the car in the garage.  Decker A-gunner walked in and gave him a thumbs up that they where ready to egress back to the Airbase.  No sooner than those words left his mouth, command came over the comms.

"DP-1."

"Go for DP-1." Decker responded moving towards the garage to prepare to exfil out."

"DP-1, be advise, additional elements from your team are on the ground and heading to the last know location of the assets on the ground at the mall.  Your to secure your package and meet up with them at site echo on the ground.  Do you copy."

"Hard copy command, we are moving."  Decker looked at the Chief and nodded to him that it was back on.  To which a simple smile followed from the Chief as the two of them moved past the family while Decker spoke.

"No matter what happens, stay with me."  The father, sweaty and nervous, nodded as Decker and his Chief climbed into their truck and lead the two-vehicle convoy away from the house. As they drove down the street, the gate closing off the garage to the house would be crashed into in a less dramatic fashion by a van while a three car armada followed behind it and posted up in the street.  The armed men who exited and ran into the home left little to the imagination as to who they where or what they wanted.

"That's cutting it close." The chief said as Decker relayed the information to command and nodded in agreement with him.

Two of the bad guys walked right past Jack and the others. Jack knew this because no one normally walks with a hand resting near the small of their back. It was likely part of a classic pincer movement, cover the angles and corral the target to where you wanted to move them.

"Tally two. Zero niner zero. Follow my lead." Jack said quietly, falling into brevity codes. As soon as they were past, Jack took the lead on this one, stalking up behind one of them. The man hiked up his jacket, revealing the grip of a Tokarev pistol, or at least one of the dozens of clones of one. That was his cue, as Jack lunged in, using his left hand to pull the man's hand away and his right to pull the gun free, before stepping right back. The man turned around, now staring down the barrel of his own gun.

"Pretty sure Jordan doesn't have a carry concealed law. And if you're after my wife and friends, let's cut to the part in Taken where Liam Neeson, played by me, shoots you in the face." Jack said with a menacing smirk. He thumbed the hammer back to punctuate his point.

Up ahead, the other group was now about to make their move, moving to grab the women. One grabbed AJ's arm and that was the last mistake he would make. On top of the mandatory MCMAP training AJ had as a Marine, she also had spent her time in Japan learning Judo, from a rather eccentric but good hearted man from Osaka. She twisted his arm around and hip tossed him to the ground before putting her knee onto his face, keeping his hand outstretched and twisted, and pulled the Makarov tucked in his waistband free, and tossed it into the wastebasket behind her.

Things happen. That was something her mother used to say as an excuse for all the crap in the world, the only difference being she wasn't one of those who merely accepted life as it was, she was change and lookout when she went out of her way to make those changes.

So, then it all came down to the showdown. Trish wasn't going to leave it all up to the men, not when she and her friends were in the firing line. Events went down like a slow mo from a movie in her mind, she saw Jack take care of Goon #1, then AJ neatly disposed of #2. That left two more with possibly another two not far behind them, and they were close. One, the third Richard Cranium to emerge went straight for Bobbie, the smallest member of the troupe. Trish was off slightly to one side, the idiots left which suited her; as his hand went to reach for Bobbie's neck, a size six Doc Martin's boot went straight to his groin so fast and powerfully it sent him flying backwards into Beckett and Rob.

A squeal left Bobbie's mouth when the man grabbed for her, it lasted all of two seconds as she saw that deep maroon boot plow in his crown jewels. That had to hurt as her squeal shaped mouth turned into a pleased grin. It wasn't over as another came from behind the doors his motion taking him straight towards Catherine. Her back was turned and that look of fear returned to Bobbie when she saw the hand go for the pistol. "Cate lookout!" She yelled loudly, at the same time she grabbed Kimbo, hauling her down to crouch beside a waiting taxi. "If it goes south Kimbo, just remember you owe me twenty bucks." Yes even in the heat of battle she was still Bobbie.

One second, that was all it took to change alter your life for eternity. Hearing Bobbie's warning cry, Cate twisted, ducked low to then come up at the man with her head right under his chin, breaking his jaw instantly. She was going to have a headache the size of Tasmania, but to live was all worth it in the end.

As the would be kidnapper went to the pavement, Cate followed swiftly with a kick to the ribs so violently she literally felt them give way. A look of sheer anger was written all over her face, blossoming in red flushes covering her cheeks and forehead. "Are we done now!" She screamed at the last man out, who simply turned to the right running. Thirty seconds after that the Police sirens filled the streets. Blood trickled down her brow, blood well spent.

Lukas had been coming around when he had been plowed into by the man running.

The German cursed under his breath as he had considered grabbing hold of the runner, but the man could have been anyone - anyone scared off by the sounds of the sirens that were edging closer and to which, he had two options; let the man go or grab him for interrogation. But, without proper instructions and unknown factors, Lukas had let the man go.

He watched the retreating form as he walked around, keeping as low a profile as he could in a place like Amman. What he wanted and what was protocol was blurred but without the necessary information, there was nothing he could do about it. The sirens drew closer as he looked around, trying to locate any of the friendlies to regroup on.

Kim didn't like the feeling of being watched.  The hairs stood up on the back of her neck as she kept glancing around, hoping she wasn't being too obvious.  Unfortunately her instincts had been correct as in the next few moments AJ, Trish, and Cate all had knocked out a person, along with Jack.  She had lost track of Beckett and Rob, but was tugged away by Bobbie. "Really?  Twenty?" she asked, trying to smile a bit.

Rob watched in horror as the men approached the girls.  That was why he had been leery about splitting up.  Although thankfully Jack had been closer and had been able to get a hold of one of the men.  Rob growled under his breath as Trish kicked one of the men straight to them.  He grabbed the man's shirt front ready to give him a quick and hard knock to the head when he heard someone shout Cate's name.  He spun, not thinking of the danger he had just left himself open to.

The man was slowly regaining his wits and reached a hand under his jacket, the steel of a blade glinting in the lights of the mall.  He raised his arm to bring the knife into Rob's gut.

"Rob!" Beckett warned, slamming his friend out of the way.  Beckett gasped as pain lanced through his side and he crumbled to his knees.  Before he went down completely he managed to slam the heel of his hand into their attacker's nose, feeling quite satisfied as he heard a crunch and a scream from the man.

Rob spun back around.  "Beckett!" he gasped, hurrying to his friend's side while he ignored the writhing man on the floor.  Blood covered their attacker's face as he moaned.  Rob kicked the knife out of his reach as he touched Beckett's shoulder. "Come on, bud.  Let's get out of the middle of things."

Beckett nodded a bit as Rob helped him back to his feet.  He hissed in pain as he pressed a hand to his side.  Hopefully it wasn't severe, but only time would tell.  Rob and Beckett slowly made their way over to the girls and Jack, hoping as Cate said it was done.

With the scene they were causing, it was kind of hard for the real police, the two policemen from earlier with backup now, to ignore the situation. Unlike the security guards who were paid off, the police officers did not care for such a situation to happen in their city. They were swift to round up the aggressors, and Jack handed over the handgun as soon as they arrived. Medical professionals were on hand to tend to the wounded as well.

"These scum are human traffickers with ties to terrorists in Syria. They have been a problem for us for some time." The lead officer said while his men handcuffed the would-be kidnappers.

"Hopefully not anymore." Jack said.

"Yes. They sicken me, and they make our city unsafe. Jordan is supposed to be a peaceful country, but these people take advantage of our kindness for their own twisted ends." The officer commented. One of the kidnappers shouted at the police in Arabic and was pistol whipped by his arresting officer. The lead officer rattled off his own response.

"They choose to live in the past with old hatreds and bigotry. I am tired of these zealots making a mockery of the law. The courts will decide their fates, but if they are tied with the group that has crossed your country and ours, they will be punished harshly." The officer said. Jack nodded slowly, he recalled how swift Jordan's retribution had been for their murdered pilot. Even Jordan's King had called off negotiations in the US to return home and be a part of that, and it was good to see a leader who still was that committed to their people.

"You should leave soon. I have no need to detain any of you further, and if I have any further questions, they will be forwarded to your embassy. I hope that this does not color your view of our city in a bad light, but I understand as well if it does." The officer said.

<Amman City-Mall Food Court-Street>

It was almost as if nothing had happened where the locals where concerned, all of them seemingly witnessing this as an everyday event. Cate knew there were places like that all over the world, it still no matter what disgusted her that people could remain so blase' over such things, walking past even those injured without so much as blinking. That old head in the sand attitude was precisely the thing she hated about humanity, it was back home now creeping in like a fungus; a part of the reason she signed up for the Defence Forces, to do something to make a change.

With the cops arrival there was little else to do now but return to base; after of course attending to their own bruises and wounds. There was one thing she had to do first though.

With her long lanky gait, almost like that of someone who had been on horseback most of their life Cate walked over to the stranger from the Mall, she greeted him. "I wanted to say thanks and sorry at the same time." A strange introduction from her to Lukas. "Thanks for being around, it could have been much worse and sorry that you didn't get a hit in on that man. Cate MacGregor by the way, RAAF...so what brings you here to this sorry corner of the world." As she spoke, Cate made sure she caught Rob's attention, she knew he'd be curious as to who she was talking to.
